Brighton Gay Men's Chorus is a registered charity that promotes public education in choral music, its study, practice and performance. It advances the education of gay and gay-friendly men in Brighton and Hove in choral music specifically.
The chorus also promotes equality and diversity for the public benefit, working to eliminate discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity. It raises public awareness of issues affecting the LGBTQIA+ community.
Founded in January 2005, the chorus has grown to around 150 members and performs regularly across Brighton and Hove, as well as nationally and internationally. Its guiding principles are singing, socialising and support.
The chorus has raised money for local good causes, including Allsorts Youth Project, an LGBTQIA+ youth charity, and Pedal People, a charity offering cycle rides for elders and disabled people.
