About

Out & Proud African LGBTI (OPAL) is a charity formed by African LGBTQIA+ activists in the UK. It supports people affected by persecution, including those currently experiencing it, and works against the persecution of LGBTQIA+ people in the United Kingdom. The organisation supports LGBTQIA+ asylum seekers and refugees in the UK, France and the Netherlands through advocacy, resources and community empowerment, hosting regular meet-ups, legal workshops and creative social events. It also produces a podcast and has received recognition for its work.
