Get to know this service
Out North East works to promote equality and diversity, aiming to eliminate discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity across the North East of England. Its work is delivered from the ONE Centre in Gateshead, described as the region's dedicated LGBTQIA+ community centre.
The ONE Centre offers free activities, social groups, workshops and wellbeing sessions for people to meet others and find support. The organisation also runs Pride Radio, an LGBTQIA+ radio station broadcasting music, conversation and community stories.
Out North East delivers outreach, events, training and campaigning across the region, including free Pride festivals and community events. It also produces the Roots of Pride Story Suitcase, an educational resource on LGBTQIA+ history for schools and youth groups.
The organisation offers Together as ONE training to help staff, volunteers, managers and trustees support LGBTQIA+ people. It also runs a Foundation Certificate in LGBTQIA+ Studies, a community learning programme covering LGBTQIA+ history and research skills.
