Demonburgh Junior Roller Derby (SCIO)
About
Demonburgh Junior Roller Derby SCIO is an Edinburgh based, volunteer run club offering young people (ages 7-17) the opportunity to learn and play roller derby, both recreationally and competitively. This inclusive, full-contact sport attracts neurodiverse youngsters, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and those seeking a body-positive environment. The charity focuses on skill-building, confidence, and community, with an emphasis on sportsmanship and fun. The charity provides two classes every Friday during school terms. The ‘Rookies’ class runs from 6-7.30pm, teaching the fundamental skills and rules for playing roller derby. The ‘Team’ class runs from 7.30-9pm and focuses on preparing players to play competitive games. The charity hosts games and bootcamps to widen the opportunities for youngsters to learn and play roller derby. Additionally the charity facilitates and supports Demonburgh players to play games across the UK and abroad, supporting young people's growth.
