About this event
This event is intended for attendees of BIG20: THE Celebration Event We will be setting off at 11am, once everyone is ready after the AGM.This varied walk is about 4.5 miles (7km) combining attractive Derbyshire countryside, excellent viewpoints, historic Wirksworth, old quarries and railway heritage. We will initially join the High Peak Trail and then follow paths to the Middle Peak Quarry - now reclaimed by nature. Continuing we will reach the Stardisc celestial stonework high above Wirksworth, with extensive views over the town and across the Ecclesbourne Valley. From Stardisc we descend steeply via The Dale down into Wirksworth where we will take a break and probably have our lunch.We can take some time to explore the narrow streets and interesting industrial heritage (and maybe a brief visit to a pub).Leaving the town we head towards Bolehill, climbing back into the countryside before we return to the starting point.For those attending the Big Celebration we will be back at Mount Cook Adventure Centre in plenty of time for you to prepare for the evening.Photos: By OutdoorLads members and used with permission.
