About this event
Join us for a stunning 16km circular walk that begins in Ripon at one of Yorkshire’s most iconic landmarks. From the heart of the city, we’ll head out along quiet lanes and riverside paths towards Studley Roger.Our first stop is the beautiful St Mary’s Church in Studley Royal, a striking Victorian church set within the deer park of the UNESCO‑listed Studley Royal Estate. If open, we'll take time to appreciate its architecture, peaceful setting, and stunning interior by William Burges.From here, the route continues around the edge of the Abbey estage and into the famous Seven Bridges Valley, a wonderfully atmospheric stretch of woodland and a series of bridges that cross over the River Skell.After emerging from the valley, we’ll make our way towards Hell Wath Nature Reserve, a quiet and wildlife‑rich area on the outskirts of Ripon. The reserve’s mix of woodland and meadow provides a gentle and restorative final leg before we re‑enter the city.We’ll finish back where we started at Ripon Cathedral, with the option for a post‑walk drink or bite to eat in one of the nearby pubs or cafés.This walk blends heritage, landscape, woodland, and riverside paths into a single rewarding day out, perfect for anyone who enjoys varied terrain and a mix of history and nature. On the day, I may do the walk in reverse based on the opening hours of St Mary's Church.If the event is fully booked: Please join the waiting list as people frequently drop out during the week before an event, and you are likely to get a place on the walk.
