About this event

A leisurely social bike ride along lanes of the Cheshire Countryside, and a cafe stop at Whitegate Station. We ride a loop around Northwich Conurbation passing the Anderton Boat Lift and several pretty Cheshire Villages following mainly follow quiet lanes, and approximately 10 miles on a former Railway Line (Whitegate Way) and Bridleway.   We can stop for coffee and cake at the former station House on the Whitegate Way. After passing through Knutsford, we will pass through Tatton Park. This event is around 36 miles and is reasonably flat.  Whilst the majority of the route is on traffic free trails or quiet lanes, please note we do route along a few sections of busy roads to access the Boat Lift and will pass through Knutsford Town Centre on some busier roads. We have plenty of time to complete the route and we will take it at a relaxed pace and no one will be left behind.Road cyclists: Please be aware some paths might be a little rough and bumpy for thin tyres, but doable none the less.  some sections of mud can be expected on the trails. Mountain bikers: Much of the route is on paved roads and expect to mix with traffic.Pace and Terrain This will be a leisurely cycle suitable for those of all levels of fitness. The majority of the route is on quiet country lanes, but we do have about 10 miles on the old railway line which can be muddy in places, but suitable for all bikes. This event is open to cyclists of all abilities and bike types. There are a couple of climbs as we cross the Weaver Valley a couple of times. If you're not a regular cyclist, please do make sure your bike is in good condition - check the tyres are well inflated, chain is oiled, and you've got a spare inner tube, drinks and snacks with you. Photos: All were taken by the Author.
