About this event

For those of you who enjoy your weekly parkrun fix, we'll be heading to Jesmond Dene parkrun before the OutdoorLads NE&Y Leaders Gathering and Newcastle Autumn Social later the same day. If you've not heard of it, parkrun is a free, weekly, timed 5k event that takes place every Saturday at locations across the world. We will meet at 8.45am by the parkrun sign for a group photo. I'll be wearing a red parkrun t-shirt, but feel free to wear any OutdoorLads merchandise. You can register for parkrun and get your own barcode from www.parkrun.org.uk to scan at the end of your run to record your finish time if you wish. However, you do not need to do this to take part in the run if you don't want to.Course description: The course is 5k long, run entirely on tarmac paths. Some sections of the course may accumulate mud, leaves and puddles after rain. The course starts and finishes just above Millfield House near Pet’s Corner and runs through the dene on a path parallel to Red Walk. It follows a few left and right turns, taking you round to 21 steps and a steep hill up to Paddy Freeman’s Park. There is a big loop followed by a small loop of this park before descending a steep hill and back along the path to the finish. On occasion parkruns can be cancelled due to the weather or lack of volunteers. Should this happen I will try to contact members as soon as I can. Photos taken by OutdoorLads members who have given us permission to use them.
