Let’s make the most of the last days of summer with a relaxed walk through some of Surrey’s loveliest heathland.Starting at Shortfield Common, we’ll head towards the beautiful Frensham Great and Little Ponds, enjoying sandy heathland tracks, woodland and open views across the water. September should bring that lovely change-of-season feeling — the warmth of summer lingering, but with a hint of autumn just around the corner.We’ll take our time, enjoy the scenery and have plenty of opportunities for chats and laughs along the way. And, naturally, there’s a very good reason to keep walking to the end: The Holly Bush pub, where we can round things off with a well-earned drink.A great late-summer outing for Outdoor Lads — fresh air, beautiful countryside, good company and a pub at the finish. What’s not to like?Come along and give summer a proper send-off!Dogs:This walk is very suitable for dogs. There’s plenty of open space, river access for a drink or paddle, and several fields with livestock (dogs on leads in these areas, please). (All pictures by Felipe Rogatto)
