Spaces may be made available to those not attending the weekend event, subject to availability - please message the event leader.The meeting time is just 15 minutes after the AGM is due to end - please ensure you are ready before the AGM starts! :-) Join Mark for a cracking circular day out around the Matlock area, taking in some of the Peak District’s most dramatic limestone cliffs, historic landmarks, and breathtaking industrial ruins. This route packs a bit of everything—stunning high viewpoints of Giddy Edge, a touch of exploration around Riber Castle, lunch near the gritstone crags of Cocking Tor, and the romantic waterfalls of the Lumsdale Valley.We’ll kick off by ascending the great limestone cliff towering over the River Derwent. The summit offers an impressive (and occasionally unnerving!) unfenced view overlooking Matlock Bath and the Heights of Abraham. For those with strong nerves and a head for heights, we can catch views from the narrow Giddy edge path winding across the cliff face.Heading onward, we’ll pass by the historic Riber Castle before making our way across Tansley Moor.We’ll tackle a steep and rocky path up to Cocking Tor for our lunch stop. It’s a popular spot for local climbers and paragliders, offering sweeping views across the surrounding countryside and Ogston Reservoir.On our way back, we’ll wander through the picturesque wooded gorge of Lumsdale, featuring dramatic waterfalls and atmospheric ruined 19th-century industrial watermills.New Members: If this is your first event or you are new to OutdoorLads we’d love to see you.
