About this event

Fancy a refreshing easier wander as summer turns to autumn in the Cleveland/North Yorkshire area?  Take a break from work on a Wednesday for a joyous easier stroll in the company of OutdoorLads.  This walk is a kinder, less challenging linear route outing along the beach making use of the local train service to return. The views on the outward leg impress as the land to the south rises from the sea in impressive sandstone cliffs, further along this section of the coast to Skinningrove are the highest cliffs on the east coast of England. There is an opportunity to visit a ruined old church ruin to seek out the curious graves of the many who perished in the stormy waters and the pirate skull and cross bones etched on weathered grave stones. The beaches visited on the walk at low tide are wide and easily shared with the horse riders, joggers and dog walkers.  There will be a pause at a midway point for the opportunity to go for a snack and drink. The destination is the charming resort of Saltburn-By-The-Sea and we will spend plenty of time here to walk to the end of the pier continue to Old Saltburn.  We will then either use the cliff lift to reach the higher level paths if open on the edge of the town and after a stop for photographs and pause at a nice bar before catching the train back to the start.Photo Credits: The photographs used on this event page have been taken by OutdoorsLads leaders and the walk leader for this event and permission is given to use in this publication and any future event pages or other releases.
