About this event
This is on of a series of events taking place in Hull over the weekend. Take a look at the Hull Social page to see what else is going on.Come along for an exploration walk over the impressive Humber Bridge, once the world’s longest single-span suspension bridge, taking in the spectacular views across the Humber Estuary.This is a pleasant walk, mostly on the level. Starting at Hessle Whiting Mill, we’ll cross the bridge before following paths along the Humber through the eastern parts of the Barton and Barrow Clay Pits. These former industrial sites have now been transformed into a series of water pools, nature reserves and important wild-bird breeding sites.We’ll then leave the pits via one of the old boatyards and cross the fields towards the town of Barton-upon-Humber, where there will be some time to explore the town or relax in a café or pub.From Barton, we’ll make our way back across the Humber Bridge, giving us a second opportunity to enjoy the impressive estuary views as we return to East Yorkshire.The route is approximately 10 miles.Dogs: We’ll be passing through areas of nature reserve, so dogs must be kept under control and on a lead when near wild birds.
